Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway North Devon

[We re-open for 2024 on Saturday 17th February at 11am] The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is the UK's only fully water powered railway and a 'Silver' award winner in Devon's Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2020. Built in 1888, it remains the world's highest and the steepest fully water powered railway and one of three examples left in the world. Set in the heart of Exmoor National Park the cliff railway operates using only renewable and sustainable fresh Exmoor river water for power. Green Tourism UK has awarded it the highest 'Gold' standard for sustainable and ethical tourism. With 862ft of steep track and an elevation of 500ft the railway provides a memorable experience for all that visit it and Which? voted it the UK's best Cliff Railway.
