Bronze Award – Devon’s Large Visitor Attraction of 2018

The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway was awarded a BRONZE award for the Large Visitor Attraction of the year 2018 with the Devon Tourism Awards. The announcement was made at the Visit Devon Awards Ceremony at Highbullen Hotel, Golf & Country Club on the 22nd November 2018.

The annual competition, now in its 9th year, saw over 164 entries across Devon tourism business with just 78 selected as finalists. Of the finalists, in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category, the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway scooped BRONZE, Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery was awarded Silver and the category winner, Gold, was awarded to Sidmouth’s, Donkey Sanctuary.

Rob Newman, Chairman of the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway said: ‘This is the first nomination for the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, and to win Bronze is a fantastic achievement, especially given the amount of high profile tourism businesses across Devon that were shortlisted and nominated’.

Awards organizer Robin Barker of Services for Tourism adds: “We’re delighted to see the ongoing development of the Devon Tourism Awards since we launched them 9 years ago, and to see entrants coming from all parts of this fabulous county. Entrants tell us their prime reason for entering is now the feedback they receive, helping them hone their businesses and service still further, but one thing that doesn’t change is the delight caused by being told you’re a winner.  Many congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and highly commended businesses – you’re tourism exemplars!”
